Die kurze Antwort

An egg holds something that has not happened yet. Many dreamers connect it with a plan, a hope or a new part of life that is fragile and still forming.

Forschung

Dreams often use everyday objects to carry what is on our minds, and they link memories in loose, unexpected ways. An egg can connect to breakfast, to Easter, to fertility, or to a project you are keeping warm. Whether it was whole, cracked or hatching is often the detail that connects it back to waking life.

Volkstümliche Überlieferung

Tradition, keine Wissenschaft

Tradition: American popular dream books, around 1900

Miller's 1901 dream dictionary read finding a nest of eggs as a sign of wealth and happiness, and broken or rotten eggs as disappointment. This is how one popular American book read the image, reported here as history, not prediction.

Fragen an dich selbst

  1. What in your life is not ready yet but you are hoping for?
  2. Was the egg safe, or did it break? How did that feel?
  3. Who else is helping, or not helping, to keep this fragile thing whole?
