Continuity research suggests dreams reflect what we are preoccupied with, so a pregnancy dream can simply mirror thoughts about children, a partner, or a real or hoped-for pregnancy. When none of that applies, the image is often read as something developing that is not yet visible to others: an idea, a plan, a change in identity. Pregnant people often report more vivid and more anxious dreams, which fits the large physical and emotional shift they are living through. The dream is not a sign that you are, or will become, pregnant.

Dream books around 1900 read pregnancy dreams with moral warnings about marriage and reputation, depending on whether the dreamer was married. That says more about the attitudes of the time than about any dreamer today.
