Examinations and being unprepared rank among the typical dreams people report in surveys. A continuity reading links them to current pressure: a performance review, a new role, a relationship where you feel measured. The frequent detail of forgetting to study or not finding the room tends to match a feeling of being unready rather than actual lack of ability.

Freud included examination dreams among the typical dreams. He noted a reading, credited to a colleague, that people tend to dream of exams they had already passed, as if the dream reassures them: you were afraid then too, and it went well. This observation is often repeated, though it has not been tested systematically.
