Die kurze Antwort

A ring is a promise you can wear. Many dreamers connect it with commitment: being given one, losing one or finding it no longer fits.

Psychologie und Forschung

Forschung

Dream researchers find that close relationships are among the most common and emotionally loaded topics in dreams. A ring gives those concerns a concrete shape. Being offered a ring, losing it, or watching it break often mirrors how secure, hopeful or uneasy a commitment feels right now, whether it is romantic, family or work.

Volkstümliche Überlieferung

Tradition, keine Wissenschaft

Tradition: American popular dream books, around 1900

Miller's 1901 dream dictionary read receiving a ring as a sign of faithful love, and a broken ring as quarrels or separation. This was one popular American reading of its time, reported as history, not as a prediction about your relationship.

Fragen an dich selbst

  1. What commitment in your life is on your mind lately?
  2. Who gave you the ring, or who did you give it to?
  3. If the ring was lost or broken, what did you feel first: relief, fear or sadness?
