Being offered a ring, losing it, or watching it break often mirrors how secure, hopeful or uneasy a commitment feels right now, whether it is romantic, family or work.

Miller's 1901 dream dictionary read receiving a ring as a sign of faithful love, and a broken ring as quarrels or separation. This was one popular American reading of its time, reported as history, not as a prediction about your relationship.
