Researchers who code dream content track social interactions, and the continuity view links them to the relationships on our minds. Phones that break, numbers that will not dial and calls that cut out are common frustration dreams; they often mirror a waking sense of not being heard. Bereaved people also often report dreams of hearing from someone who has died, and many find them comforting.
